sponsorship.PurposeManage the activities and staff in the College
of Natural Sciences' Biosciences and Chemistry advising centers. To
advance our core mission of fostering wellness, belonging, and
success for all students.Responsibilities
- Advises CNS students individually and in groups, including
non-degree seeking and other student populations for the college.
Communicate in a timely and accurate manner with students.
- Hire train, supervise, and provide feedback and coaching for a
staff of advisors in Biosciences and Chemistry. Implement, manage,
and assess academic advising program. Assign students to advisor
caseloads in a timely manner. Collaborate with other advising
centers on the flow of students in the college.
- Coordinate degree petitions for Biosciences and Chemistry
majors. Submit and review petitions, communicate and problem-solve
with faculty, train and update CNS advising staff on the petition
process. Create and update documentation on course
substitutions.
- Facilitate multiple sections of small learning
communities.
- Communicate and collaborate with faculty and staff in
Biosciences and Chemistry departments about student data,
registration, and curriculum development.
- Evaluate the degree progress of students assigned to the
Biosciences and Chemistry departments. Conduct outreach to students
regarding degree completion.
- Attend meetings, professional development and serve on and
chair committees as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned, including supporting special projects
and staffing events within CNS.Required QualificationsBachelor's
degree and eight years of experience working with college students
or in an academic counseling capacity or Master's degree and six
years of experience or Doctoral degree and four years of
experience.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as
appropriate.Preferred QualificationsPrior supervisory experience.
5+ years' experience in a student-facing or advising position at UT
Austin. Knowledge of CNS policies, procedures and degree plans, or
experience at the University of Texas at Austin working with
student populations or in an advising area. Experience overseeing
small community groups of students. Program management experience.
Learning mindset, data analytics and problem solving, ability to
adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
Working with limited data/information. Proficiency with Microsoft
Office Applications, Box, Mainframe, Workday and other relevant
software. Familiar with technology applicable to relevant advising
roles. Highly developed analytical skills. Professional verbal,
written, digital and virtual communication skills. Ability to adapt
to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.Salary
Range$65,000 + depending on qualificationsWorking Conditions
